What is the Work? - March Six

"What is the Work?" is an ongoing series, a daily log of studio time. What I worked on, how it went, how I felt, what I drank, what I listened to, what the weather was like. A way to mark passing days, to notice how it feels, to figure out what the work is. You can find the whole series under the tag "What is the Work?"

Today, I...

made  a whole new website

am working on  cutting out the Tamarack jacket I've been thinking about for a long time. I'm going to shorten the pattern by 1.5 inches since I like things the tiniest bit cropped (and since my torso is, all on its own, the tiniest bit cropped). Can't start really working on it because I'm waiting for some new pearl cotton to come in. It's stuck in New Jersey? Ugh. Probably better to have more time to scheme and plan. I've challenged myself to make each new piece of clothing that I make this year extra special, with either added piecework, appliqué, or embroidery. I need to figure out how I'm going to make this jacket special. Going to mull it over, maybe sketch some things.

am listening to sylvan esso.

am drinking re-warmed coffee from this morning.

am feeling inexplicably exhausted and worried, having a hard time focusing, sort of disoriented. Frustrating ways to feel.

am reading Rebecca Solnit's A Field Guide to Getting Lost.
