toolbox: continuous bias tape

Bias tape is one of the most handy sewing finishing methods for all sorts of applications (not just quilts!!) and buying it can really add up! For a perfect match to your project and the most cost-effective option, it’s really easy to make your own!

I didn’t come up with this method, it’s been echoing across the internet for years and years. Whoever figured this out first is a genius! Thank you to them! After having to look it up again everytime I wanted to make continuous bias binding (because I always forget which direction to flip the triangles! Haha!) I decided to make this graphic to print and put by my sewing nook for quick reference.

great news! We are planning to make this a print sometime soon so you can hang it in your sewing nook too! But for now here it is in blog post form which is almost as good.

mid-weight woven fabrics that aren’t too shifty or slippery are the best for bias tape. my favorite fabric for bias tape is good old quilting cotton.

happy sewing!
