Needle-turn Applique
A type of quilting where cut fabric is overlayed over a background and handstitched to the base, creating endless graphic possibilities.

First needle-turn applique piece, started because my sister encouraged me to. I started cutting abstract shapes and jumped in, quickly becoming engaged with the work.
My second abstract shapes applique quilt, this size baby-blanket-sized. Made throughout a move to the woods, shapes mostly sewn in the car, quilting done on the floor of a new apartment while on the phone with much-missed friends. A quilt marking transition.
A block from an ongoing project called Incarnation Quilt. Each block is meant to illustratively depict an image from the Christian Bible, to move from word to flesh, to echo the holy mystery of what is spiritual made physical. This block is called "everlasting arms."
Quilting detail from second abstract shapes applique quilt. Quilting is hand-stitched with Size 8 Pearl Cotton.
Another Incarnation Quilt block, this one called "Clothed with the Sun"
