Resources for learning:

Purl Soho - Amazing free project tutorials and patterns. This is by far the resource I've turned to most. If you're looking for figure out a new skill or technique, this is where I would look first.

Grainline Studio Blog - The blog connected to this fantastic indie pattern company really helped to illustrate the process of sewing clothing in a way that I really needed. If you're feeling like you need some things demystified while trying to sew a garment, this is a great place to look.

The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters by Sherri Lynn Wood - This book can teach someone to quilt from start-to-finish. Sherri's improv techniques are intuitive and clear, an amazing jumping off point for artists to try new ideas or start from somewhere new. I don't typically approach my quilts improvisationally, but the techniques in this book still influence my design process.

Lotta Jansdotter Everyday Style by Lotta Jansdotter - This book is a must-read for anyone who aspires to a handmade wardrobe. The simple patterns included in the back of the book are really an amazing tutorial on how to make wardrobe staples, serving as an indispensable learning tool and place to start.
